What We Did

Akoya supported the Conflict Observatory (CO) from October 2023 to December 2024 as the organization monitored, analyzed, and preserved evidence of possible war crimes in Sudan and Ukraine to protect people, places, and cultural heritage.

In just 14 months, Akoya developed more than 20 communicationsspecific templates and tools for consortium members. Through those resources and deft handling of social media accounts and media relationships, Akoya made a big impact. We earned coverage in news outlets like the Washington Post, Reuters, The Guardian, and numerous international publications. Because of Akoya’s work, information about CO reached billions of people. Akoya significantly enhanced the online presence of the Conflict Observatory through an upgraded user experience with engaging colors, intuitive navigation bars, and clear statements of who we are and what we do. Prior to Akoya’s website recommendations, the CO website did not populate on the first page of Google. Now, it’s the top result.*

The client, a federal agency responsible for managing large-scale public programs, needed a modernized digital platform to improve operational efficiency and better serve stakeholders. Legacy systems created bottlenecks in data access, reporting, and cross-team collaboration, limiting the agency’s ability to respond quickly to evolving demands.
